How I Do a Female Haircut

Hi, my name is Liene.

Today I will explain how I perform a female haircut. Every haircut starts with proper preparation and sectioning, because good organization makes the haircut more accurate and balanced.

Step 1: Consultation

Before I start cutting, I talk to my client about the hairstyle they want. I ask about the desired length, shape, and how they usually style their hair. I also check the hair texture, thickness, density, and natural growth pattern. This helps me choose the best cutting technique and create a haircut that suits the client.

Step 2: Sectioning the Hair

After the consultation, I comb the hair carefully and divide it into sections. The sectioning pattern depends on the haircut that I am creating. Different hairstyles require different sectioning methods.

For most haircuts, I start cutting at the back of the head because it provides a strong guide for the rest of the haircut. However, some haircuts begin at the sides, the front, or the top of the head, depending on the design and the final result that I want to achieve.

Keeping the hair neatly sectioned helps me stay organized and ensures that every part of the haircut is even and symmetrical.

Step 3: One-Length Haircut

A one-length haircut is a style where all the hair is cut to the same length. There is little or no layering, which creates a clean, classic, and solid shape. This haircut is suitable for many people but looks especially good on clients with naturally straight hair because it gives the hair a smooth and polished appearance.

To begin, I choose a guide length that will determine the final length of the haircut. I take the first section at the nape of the neck and separate a thin subsection of hair. Holding the hair with even tension, I cut it straight across with scissors.

This first cut becomes my guide. I continue by taking another thin subsection, combining it with a small amount of the previously cut hair, and cutting it to the same length. I work gradually from the bottom upward until the entire back section is complete.

Next, I continue with the side sections, always following my guide and checking that both sides are even. Finally, I cut the top section, connecting it smoothly with the back and sides.

Step 4: Checking the Haircut

After all the hair has been cut, I carefully check the balance and symmetry. I comb the hair in its natural fall and compare both sides to make sure they are equal in length. If necessary, I make small adjustments to create a precise finish.

I also cross-check the haircut by taking sections in the opposite direction from the original cutting pattern. This allows me to identify and remove any uneven areas.

Step 5: Finishing

When the haircut is complete, I dry and style the hair so that I can see the final shape. If needed, I do a final detail trim to perfect the outline and ensure the haircut looks clean and professional.

A one-length haircut may seem simple, but it requires accurate sectioning, consistent tension, and careful attention to detail. By following these steps, I can create an even, balanced, and elegant haircut that is easy for the client to maintain and style.
